For the past two months Jos. Campau businesses north of Caniff have suffered from a rash of broken front door windows.
Last Tuesday, police arrested a man right after one window had been kicked in, thanks to tips from witnesses.
Joze Mitresk, 46, of Holmes St., was charged last week with malicious destruction of property for allegedly kicking in a window at a Jos. Campau market.
Business owner Kazi Miah said he was working late last Tuesday evening when he heard a loud crash. He went outside to investigate and asked a woman passing by if she had noticed anything. The woman told Miah that she had witnessed Mitresk kicking in the window.
Police were then called to make an arrest.
Mitresk has a history of run-ins with law enforcement, however, he usually gets released because he is considered legally insane and not responsible.
Police say he is living on government disability and had been previouslu caught kicking in utility boxes in town.
